The Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, has arrested a father for posting nude pictures of his four-year-old daughter on social media. The pictures, which have sparked widespread outrage, show the young child in inappropriate poses, akin to adult content.
The father even posted a flyer with a picture of the minor, only wearing underpants, promoting her birthday celebration on May 28, 2024, at Spring Leaders Montessori School in Auchi.
Concerned social media users alerted the authorities and called for the arrest of the individuals involved, including the photographer responsible for the birthday pictures.
According to a statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the police have condemned the exploitation of the vulnerable child and assured that every necessary measure is being taken to ensure justice is served swiftly. The father, who has been apprehended at the Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters, is currently under investigation.
The police have emphasized the importance of implementing support systems for parents and guardians to protect the safety and well-being of their children. They have also urged caregivers to prioritize the security of minors and seek assistance or guidance when required.
